ON STAGE & ON SCREEN

Theatre is the first medium which I expressed myself as an artist in my early years. Having started my theatre career as an actor, I soon got interested in directing and doing stage design using multimedia. Besides conventional theatre, I did improvisational theatre and integrated this knowledge in my workshops with children. Apart from using multimedia techniques in theatre, I write scripts and direct short movies.

To & Fro is designed to be a 90 minute feature film and for sponsorship purposes a short movie version was created and directed by Gizem Darendelioğlu. The short movie was awarded with Special Mention at the London X Seasonal Short Film Festival Autumn 2018.

The movie is based on an article Gizem has written and is published on Archer Magazine. It uses an edgy and humorous visual style.

4.48 Psychosis 1

2012, Theatre POT, Istanbul. 4.48 Psyhosis emerged as a final project for interactivity course. After graduating from University, I continued working on it, found my own theatre group and made a production out of it.

4.48 Psychosis 2

Project is designed and produced by me and staged under the roof of Theatre POT. It reached to over 1000 audience with 12 staging in various theatres in Istanbul. Our team is invited to several TV programs and seminars regarding to its innovative perception on performing arts.

2012, Theatre POT, Istanbul. It is an interpretation of Sarah Kane’s play through a digital interactive stage design.

We've shot and edited more than 50 videos some of them useing greenbox. The interaction is designed with the help of Isadora and Max MSP programs. This technique is used to reflect the multiple dynamics of the play and visualise the script which had been written far away from being linear.

Technically this project combines sound, video and computational visual design. The stage interacts with the performer throughout the play according to players’ body movements through 3 cameras watching the stage. Each camera is connected to another computer. This technique is used to reflect the multiple dynamics of the play and visualise the script which had been written far away from being linear.
